In a dramatic MTN FA Cup semi-final at TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, Asante Kotoko edged past Berekum Chelsea 1–0 to book their place in the June 15 final at University of Ghana Stadium.

The deadlock was broken midway through the second half when Albert Amoah rose to meet a cross to  power his header into the net.

Despite Chelsea’s late pressure, Kotoko’s defense held firm, preserving the lead until the final whistle. The win was Kotoko’s first in the competition under recently appointed head coach Abdul Karim Zito.

Zito replaced Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum after a string of bad results; Dr. Ogum’s last game in charge of Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup was a 1-0 win over True Democracy.

Making it to the final gives Zito a big chance to win a second FA Cup title after winning the 2022-2023 edition with Dreams FC. On the other hand, Berekum Chelsea head coach, Samuel Boadu’s chase for a third FA Cup title came to an end.

The FA Cup winner qualifies to compete in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
