Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has revealed that improving the team’s goal-scoring efficiency was a top priority during their recently concluded nine-day training camp at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram.

Bjorkegren explained that while the team has made progress in many areas, the final third remains a concern; especially as Ghana prepares for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

This year’s WAFCON takes place from July 5 to July 26 with Ghana drawn in Group C alongside defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.

“We’ve been testing around with a lot of players, and now we need to get closer to the final pieces. The final piece, when it comes to the tactical aspect, will be the final third and how to connect with the wingers and the number nines” Bjorkegren said in an interview the Ghana Football Association media.

“That’s maybe the most important part to create more chances and score more goals, and that’s necessary, of course, to win games. So that’s the final part we will work on in the next camp” before praising the quality of players that participated in the camp stating,

“You can really see the talent in these players when you spend time with them and get to know them. Overall, really good. I think there have been five or six that we’ll put on the list and look at a little bit closer; Abigail, Nancy, Fatima for example but maybe another two or three as well.”
