Black Queens defender Josephine Afua Kyerewaa Bonsu is banking on Ghana’s vaunted attack to register a win over Algeria in the quarterfinals of the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team takes on Algeria at 16:00 GMT on Saturday, July 19; this is the Black Queens first quarterfinal game at the AFCON since 2016.
Speaking in a pre-game presser in the presence of Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren ahead of the big game, Bonsu praised Ghana’s forwards ahead of the matchup against the Algerian side that is yet to concede a goal in the tournament and Algerian goalkeeper Chloe N’Gazi.
“We know that we have to score goals to win this game so it doesn’t really scare us that she’s [Chloe N’Gazi] nominated as one of the best goalkeepers in Africa. We have to try to score goals because we know of our abilities in the attack” the German born Bonsu said.

Ghana’s Black Queens boast of Evelyn Badu, Doris Boaduwaa, Princella Adubea and Princess Marfo in attack. The winner of the Ghana-Algeria game take on either Morocco or Mali in the semifinals.
