Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team forward Doris Boaduwaa has apologized for not living up to expectations at the recently concluded 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
Boaduwaa was part of the Black Queens team that finished third at the tournament with its bronze medal clinching performance coming via a penalty shootout win over South Africa.
The former Hasaacas Ladies FC player was one of the most talked about players to watch at the competition having bagged the Female Footballer of the Year Award at the Ghana Football Awards and a hat-trick in a friendly game win over Malawi ahead of the tournament.
However, Boaduwaa largely disappointed as she scored no goals in Morocco and several players on the Queens roster outperformed her that led to heavy criticism from fans and Boaduwaa has since issued an apology on her X (formerly Twitter) page stating,
“Not my finest tournament but still a memorable one! I apologize to my fans for not quite living up to expectations I know I’m capable of more and I promise to bounce back stronger.”
