President of football’s world governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has out rightly condemned the racist abuse Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo recently suffered during an English Premier League game.

AFC Bournemouth’s Semenyo was allegedly racially abused by a Liverpool fan in the 2025-2026 league season opener at Anfield that had Liverpool win 4-2; Semenyo scored twice in the game.

However, the game was marred in the first half by the racism incident and had to be temporarily stopped. Police have arrested an individual in connection to the incident as investigations continue.

Joining the massive show of support for the Black Stars player, Gianni Infantino condemned the act via a statement on social media while committing to ensure that firm actions are taken to address the issue by FIFA.

“It is absolutely unacceptable to see the racist abuse aimed at AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo which led to a stoppage of their Premier League match against Liverpool FC at Anfield. Football has no place for racism or any form of discrimination” he said and added

“We will continue to offer our unequivocal support to him…to ensure strong deterrents are in place, actions are taken, to eradicate racism and discrimination from our game.”
