Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil and defender Alexander Djiku are on track to miss the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification game against Chad on Thursday, September 4.

The qualification game is due to take place in Chad at 13:00 GMT with Ghana seeking to extend its lead in Group I while Chad are yet to pick their first points in the qualification phase after six games.

Paintsil’s absence in the squad that has travelled to Chad is down to a delayed flight from his base in Los Angeles in the United States of America.

Djiku on the other hand, is looking to complete his move from Fenerbache to Russian side Spartak Moscow after not making an appearance since the start of the season.

Paintsil has been in and out of the Black Stars due to varied reasons and his likely absence against Chad comes on the back of scoring the winning goal in LA Galaxy’s 2-1 win over Orlando City in the League Cup to clinch the bronze medal.

Djiku and Paintsil are primed to be available for Ghana’s next FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali on September 8.
