Ahead of a must-win game against West Ham United on Sunday, November 30, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has benched superstar winger Mohamed Salah. It is the first time in 54 league games Salah won’t feature as a starter.
Liverpool head into the contest with just a win in their last seven English Premier League games as defending league champions continue to struggle to replicate last season’s title winning form.
Like the Reds, Salah has struggled to replicate the form he showed last season that got him to finish the campaign as the league’s Top Goal Scorer and Player of the Year Award winner.
The Egyptian international has four goals and two assists in 12 league games this season but has just a goal and an assist in five games in the UEFA Champions League.
Salah’s form has led to several calls, including one from football legend Wayne Rooney, for Slot to drop him from the starting lineup and the Dutch manager has done so and pointed to Salah’s heavy involvement in a packed schedule as the reason for the decision.

“This is the 11 I chose today. It’s never an easy decision to make, it’s not the first time I’ve done this. We play four games in 10 days” Slot said ahead of the game according to Fabrizio Romano.

Liverpool go into game against West Ham ranked 13th.
