Alexander Isak says he feels “relieved and happy” after finally opening his Premier League goal account for Liverpool in their 2–0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Swedish striker, who arrived on September 1, 2025 for a British-record £125 million, has endured a difficult start to life at Anfield. But on Sunday, he produced the moment both he and the club had been waiting for  a calm, first-time finish that set Liverpool on their way to a much-needed victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Isak admitted the journey has been tougher than many realized.

Of course, I’m aware that it’s been a long time coming and I’ve been trying to get back to my best form and I’m still on the way, but I’m happy to have that goal.

Isak described the moment as a mix of relief and release, finally lifting the weight that had been sitting on his shoulders since his record-breaking transfer.

I think it’s a mix but the most important feeling today is that we win the game.

That’s the best way to build spirit in the group  and that helps the individual as well. But of course, I’m a striker, so scoring goals will always help me.

With his first Premier League goal now behind him, Liverpool fans will hope Sunday marks the beginning of a much brighter chapter for their new No. 9.
