Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has represented Ghana and the wider African region at the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport held in Busan, South Korea from 1–5 December 2025.
The global summit; organised by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Korean Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) and the Busan Metropolitan Government takes place once every six years and convenes over 1,500 delegates from more than 190 countries to shape future anti-doping policy.
As a Foundation Board Member of WADA, Hon. Adams took centre stage during the Foundation Board meeting, where he delivered a major intervention on behalf of the Africa Region.

He reaffirmed Africa’s backing of WADA’s push to attract private-sector partnerships, highlighting the continent’s successful experience with SuperSport as proof of the impact of strategic collaboration.
Africa owes SuperSport genuine gratitude. Their support brought real anti-doping programmes to our region. But we must now build on that momentum, attract new partners, and mobilise donors who share our values
Hon. Adams also joined a high-level African caucus meeting led by H.E. Ambassador Amma Twum-Amoah, Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development at the African Union Commission.

The session brought together Sports Ministers, legal experts, and AU officials to discuss strengthening Africa’s anti-doping systems and developing sustainable local structures.
Hon. Adams reaffirmed Africa’s readiness to support WADA in identifying new partners aligned with the global clean sport agenda, adding that Ghana remains committed to advancing clean sport through legislation, education and international cooperation.
Ghana’s recent progress passing the Anti-Doping Law and accelerating the establishment of a national anti-doping agency was widely acknowledged at the conference. WADA officials praised Ghana’s leadership and called for continued commitment to athlete-centered, evidence-based reforms.
The conference concluded with the adoption of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code, also known as the Busan Declaration, a landmark regulatory framework that will guide global sport governance in the coming years.
