Asante Kotoko Director of Football Stanley Menzo has backed the club’s decision to appoint Eric Tinkler as head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Tinkler was appointed after Kotoko endured a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, finishing outside the top four.

The South African, who has previously managed Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City, has been tasked with restoring Kotoko to the top end of Ghanaian football and challenging for major honours.
Menzo, who worked with Tinkler at Cape Town City, believes the 55-year-old has the experience required to succeed at Kotoko.
“I knew Eric during my time at Cape Town City, and I knew they were struggling with a lot of things because they were a newly formed club. He didn’t have a training facility, but he managed to perform,” Menzo told the club’s official media.
“He knows Africa because he travelled with the clubs. We appointed the best coach we could have. He has built clubs to a high standard.”
Tinkler has already begun working with the squad as Kotoko step up preparations for the new season.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently based in Accra and will face rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup before opening their league campaign away to Debibi United.
