Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea has been appointed to take charge of the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 encounter between Nigeria and the host nation, Morocco.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium, with a kickoff time of 20:00 GMT, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Laryea, one of Africa’s most respected match officials, will lead a multinational officiating team for the crucial fixture, underlining CAF’s confidence in his experience at the highest level of continental football.

He will be assisted by Zakhele Thusi Granville Siwela of South Africa and Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho, while Arsenio Chadreque Maringule of Mozambique will serve as the third assistant referee. Samuel Uwikunda of Rwanda has been named the fourth official.

In the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) room, Abongile Tom of South Africa will be in charge, assisted by Haythem Guirat of Tunisia and Stephen Onyango Yiembe of Kenya. Lidya Tafesse Abebe of Ethiopia has been appointed as the referee assessor for the match.

The Nigeria–Morocco clash is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the tournament, with both sides considered strong contenders for the title.
