Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

36 year old Butler suffered the injury in the third quarter of Golden State’s 135-112 win over Miami Heat in a regular season game at the Warriors’ Chase Center.

Butler, who played for the Heat, before joining the Warriors last season, landed awkwardly on his right knee after batting for a ball with Heat guard Davion Mitchell.

The veteran forward stayed on the court for a while before getting helped to the locker room with a scan confirmed the ACL injury.

Butler’s injury comes at a time that the Warriors have won 12 of its last 16 games and are staring at a possible trade of Jonathan Kuminga who has been pushing to leave the team over playing time.
