Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance after they blew a two goal lead to draw with bottom ranked Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League.

In the process, Arsenal’s lead in the league could reduce from five points to two should second ranked Manchester City win its outstanding fixture on Saturday, February 21 against Newcastle United.

Despite trailing by two goals, Wolves fought back to grab the equalizing goal in the 94th minute after the ball came off Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori before entering the net.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the game, Arteta admitted his team paid the price for not playing well by stating,

“Very tough to accept it. You have to take the hit because we deserve it. Everyone wants to do their best. Nobody questions that. Today we weren’t at the level, at the races and at the standards that are required.”

“Today at the last minute, we paid the price. We have to do basic things much better than we have done.”
