Aston Villa captain John McGinn has stated that the club needed a reset and bagging a win over Lille in the Europa League will aid the club to achieve this.
He said this to TNT Sports after Villa beat the French League side 1-0 in France in the first leg of the round of 16 stage of the Europa League.
Emiliano Buendia assisted Ollie Watkins’ goal in the 61st minute to give Aston Villa an early advantage ahead of the second leg and after dealing with a slew of injuries and a poor run of results, the win is sure to put Villa in the right frame to end the season strongly according to McGinn.
“We needed a reset. The past month has not been great. We can’t dwell on it. We can learn from it but what we need to do is build and this is a building block. We know we can do a lot better but it is a good result.

“We showed signs of getting back to our best but there’s still a long way to go” he said.
