Chelsea crush Port Vale 7-0

Chelsea delivered a commanding performance at Stamford Bridge, thrashing Port Vale 7-0 in a one-sided FA Cup quarter-final clash.

The Blues dominated from start to finish, enjoying 77 per cent possession and peppering the Port Vale goal with 11 shots on target, while the visitors failed to register a single effort on target. It was a relentless display, with Chelsea’s movement and precision overwhelming their lower-league opponents.

Despite the emphatic scoreline, there was a notable absence on the pitch. Midfielder Enzo Fernández, serving a two-match ban, watched on from the bench as his teammates ran riot. His absence did little to disrupt Chelsea’s rhythm, as they carved open Port Vale with ease.

Chelsea also controlled the tempo in midfield and wide areas, earning eight corner kicks and completing more attacking sequences, while Port Vale struggled to gain a foothold, managing just 24 per cent possession. The hosts fired five shots off target and had four attempts blocked, reflecting their constant pressure in the final third.

Defensively, Chelsea were barely troubled. Port Vale managed just three shots off target and forced no saves from Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez. The Blues remained disciplined at the back, committing 10 fouls and avoiding any bookings, while Port Vale picked up the only yellow card of the game.

The gulf in quality was further highlighted in key moments, with Chelsea’s clinical finishing turning dominance into goals. Port Vale’s goalkeeper was called into action five times but was ultimately unable to stem the tide.

With this resounding victory, Chelsea march into the semi-finals full of confidence, while Port Vale bow out after a tough night against top-tier opposition.
