Paris Saint-Germain delivered a commanding performance to defeat Liverpool FC 2-0 in a high-intensity UEFA Champions League encounter at the Parc des Princes and truth be told, it could have been far worse for the English side.
From the opening whistle, PSG looked sharper, quicker, and far more dangerous going forward. The breakthrough came early when youngster Désiré Doué fired an effort that took a heavy deflection, looping past goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to give the hosts a deserved lead.
For Liverpool, it was a nightmare start and things never really settled.

Despite a brief spell of resistance, PSG’s attacking trio continued to cause problems. Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes pushed high from full-back, stretching Liverpool’s shape, while midfield maestro Vitinha controlled the tempo with ease.
Liverpool, on the other hand, struggled badly in possession. At one point in the first half, PSG had completed over three times as many passes a stat that perfectly captured the imbalance in control.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with PSG probing and Liverpool hanging on. The pressure finally paid off in the 66th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia produced a moment of brilliance.
Gliding past defenders with ease, he calmly rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home to make it 2-0 ;a goal that lit up the stadium.

Liverpool’s defensive lapses were glaring. Players were caught ball-watching, failing to track runs, and leaving dangerous spaces in behind something PSG exploited repeatedly.
If not for several key saves from Mamardashvili, the scoreline could have been embarrassing. Ousmane Dembele came close to adding a third late on, striking the post after a rapid counter-attack ; a warning sign of just how open Liverpool were at the back.
There was also late drama when PSG were initially awarded a penalty after a challenge by Ibrahima Konaté, only for VAR to overturn the decision after review ; a rare moment of relief for the visitors.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot attempted to change the game with multiple substitutions, including the return of Alexander Isak, but it was too little, too late.
PSG, meanwhile, sent a clear message: they are not just contenders they are serious threats in this season’s Champions League
