Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has stated the club’s objective ahead of a crucial second leg UEFA Champions League quarterfinals tie against FC Barcelona.
Ahead of the clash on Tuesday, April 14, Simeone said the club’s objective was to progress to the semifinals of the competition at a presser.
Atletico Madrid head into the contest with a 2-0 win from the first leg in a game that had striker Julian Alvarez score a brilliant free kick off a foul committed by Pau Cubarsi who was red carded for the offence.
Despite the solid lead, Simeone isn’t leaving anything to chance for the second leg and was also tight lipped about goalkeeper Jan Oblak’s return from injury to feature in the game.
“I’ve still not given the line-up. Normally we do it in the hotel…so I still have time to decide. We’re convinced of what we need to do, of what we’re going to look for.”

“We’re going to look to come out on top. We’re going to play the game so that happens.”

“We know what the opponent wants to do, they’re a good opponent, and we know the demands, but we’re clear on our objective, which is to get to the next round” Simeone said according to Football Espana.
