The Black Stars have returned to their base in Providence, Rhode Island, after opening their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama in Toronto.

A disciplined defensive performance and a second-half goal by Caleb Yirenkyi secured all three points for Coach Carlos Queiroz’s side in their Group L opener.

The team arrived in the United States early on Thursday, June 18, and headed straight to camp to begin preparations for their next match against England.

The Black Stars will hold a recovery session at Bryant University on Thursday evening before resuming full training.

Speaking to the media after the win, Carlos Queiroz praised his players’ determination and resilience. Ghana’s Forward Antoine Semenyo, who was the man of the match for the opening game, said Ghana remains focused ahead of its next challenge.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game against England, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. We want to win, but we know it won’t be easy,” Semenyo said.

England also started their World Cup campaign with a victory and are expected to provide Ghana’s toughest test in Group L.

The Black Stars will continue their preparations in Providence before travelling to Boston for the much-anticipated clash with the Three Lions on Wednesday, June 23.
