Ghana goalkeepers coach Dan Gasper says Lawrence Ati-Zigi is making good progress in his recovery from the groin injury he suffered during the Black Stars’ opening 2026 FIFA World Cup victory over Panama.

Ati-Zigi was forced off in Ghana’s 1-0 win and remains a doubt for Tuesday’s Group L clash against England in Boston.

Speaking to GFA Media, Gasper said the goalkeeper’s condition is being assessed daily, and a decision on his availability will be made closer to the match.

“We are extremely happy with his progress. It’s day by day. Obviously, this is a medical issue, so we will take it session by session, and we are optimistic about his progress. The decision will be made at the right time. One thing we always stress is that the team is above any individual. Any decision we make is in the best interest of the team,” Gasper said.

Ati-Zigi’s fitness remains a key concern for Ghana ahead of a match that could have a major impact on their hopes of reaching the Round of 32.

Gasper also thanked Ghanaians for their support and urged fans to continue backing the team.

“I’ve been extremely proud to be part of the Ghana National Team. I feel the love from the people, and our players feel the support of the people. I do not doubt that we will do everything to the best of our ability to bring joy and happiness to the Ghanaian people,” he said.

He added, “Keep giving us that support, keep believing in the Ghana National Team, because we are going to fight for you and do everything we can to get positive results.”

Ghana has three points from their opening World Cup match and will face England at the Boston Stadium on June 23.
