England manager Thomas Tuchel says it was difficult to get through Ghana’s tight defense while reflecting on his team’s goalless draw against the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Three Lions missed out on registering its second win in as many games after failing to breach Ghana’s net though Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made a very good save to deny Bukayo Saka’s curled effort and captain Harry Kane shot over the bar from close range.
Ghana played out the game with a very strong defensive approach as witnessed in England having 78.2% of possessing while having just three shots on target.
In a post-game presser, Thomas Tuchel lamented about his team’s inability to breach a resolute Ghana backline by stating that,
“It is difficult to find a way through when someone plays a 4-5-1 and completely deep and is committed to it and they celebrated a 0-0 like a win.”

“So you could see the different approaches, which is fair enough and credit to them. You cannot lose your head about it.”

England take on Panama to close out its group stage campaign on Saturday, June 27.
