Black Stars defender Marvin Senaya says he wanted to prove himself against some of the world’s best wingers and believes he did so in Ghana’s game against England.
Senaya featured prominently in Ghana’s goalless draw against England with the result putting Ghana on the brink of qualifying to the next round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
AJ Auxerre full back Senaya played 87 minutes in the contest and delivered a top performance while going up against Anthony Gordon, who recently joined FC Barcelona and Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford who recently completed his loan season at Barcelona.
Speaking in the mixed zone after the impressive draw, Senaya was adamant that he handled himself well against Gordon and Rashford.
“They-Rashford and Gordon- are really good players, I watched a lot of film on them before the game.”

“I wanted to prove something and I think today, I proved it. To be honest, I’m very very proud to have chosen [to play for] Ghana…and I hope lots of good things come” Senaya said.

Senaya has featured in both Ghana games and is set to feature in Ghana’s final group phase game against Croatia on Saturday, June 27.
