Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa has picked making multiple travel trips as the biggest challenge Ghana faced competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The veteran coach who served on Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz’s technical team in the competition said this in an interview with Robert Marawa following the conclusion of Ghana’s run in the tournament.

Ghana finished third in Group L to progress to the round of 32 stage but got kicked out after losing 1-0 to Colombia in the knockout stage.

Sa joined Queiroz’s staff in the wake of Queiroz getting awarded a four month short term contract just a little over a month prior to the start of the tournament and Sa highlighted this by stating,

“You know World Cups are always special, you go to one or two of them and they always get better, you know.”

“I thought it was a fantastic tournament, very well organized. Great stadiums, great hotels, everything has been good. Good crowds, the stadiums are full.”

“If there was one difficulty, I think it was the travel. The cities were quite distant sometimes, different time zones. So, that does have an effect on all the teams. The travel is a bit taxing on the players” Sa said.
