Norway striker Alexander Sorloth has received multiple death threats amid heavy online abuse according to his partner after Norway crashed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Atletico Madrid player suffered the abuse after Norway lost 2-1 to England in the quarterfinals after extra time in Miami.
Sorloth’s partner, Lena Selnes, revealed this while capturing some of the insulting messages towards the Norwegian striker.
The vile criticisms leveled against Sorloth stemmed from his failure to pass the ball to Erling Haaland on a counter attack where Norway looked primed to score a goal while leading 1-0. (Scroll down to watch video)
However, Sorloth’s shot attempt was blocked and the chance was wasted; England, through Jude Bellingham, got the equaliser just three minutes later.
This is the moment Norway lost to England…Up by a goal and in this position, Sorloth refused to pass the ball to Erling Haaland for what would have been a second goal for Norway. Best part is Jude Bellingham scored the equaliser three minutes later pic.twitter.com/q8wTp99LlL

“Please commit suicide, you idiot,”, “tell your man that he should leave Norway”, “jump off a cliff” and “I will kill him“ were some of the messages sent in the direction of Sorloth after Norway crashed out.

“The World Cup and football bring joy, but also a lot of hatred. I don’t really want to give this much attention, but I have to after reading these comments” Selnes said.
Erling Haaland by your side and you chose to feed your ego! Shame on you Sorloth.
Or just take the fucking shot. Literally do anything other than that.
