Ahead of England’s clash against Argentina in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, football legend Asamoah Gyan has spoken about England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s immense talent was clear even at an early age.
The big clash takes place on Wednesday, July 15 in Atlanta with the winner set to take on Spain in the final after France lost 2-0 to Spain.
Reacting to a video highlighting some of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s brilliant saves, the former Black Stars captain spoke glowingly about Pickford’s talent basing his statement off the pair’s time at Sunderland.
Gyan played for English Premier League side Sunderland for a season and a half before moving to Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

Pickford started out at Sunderland before ending up at Everton leading Gyan to state on his X page, “I saw his greatness at Sunderland academy.”

Pickford has started in all of England’s six games at the World Cup in the lead up to the semifinal clash against Argentina.
