Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni was in utter anguish over his team’s failure to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
The 2022 World Champions missed out on successfully defending their title after losing 1-0 to Spain in the 2026 Final that took place at the New York-New Jersey Stadium.
Argentina were dominated in the final by Spain who went on to sweep all the end-of-tournament individual awards including midfielder Rodri winning the Golden Ball Award and Pau Cubarsi winning the Young Player of the Season Award.
Reflecting on the loss, Scaloni also talked about his contract which ends in December later this year by stating,
“I have an idea of what I would like to do.”

“I will see out my contract and I feel the need to think as I don’t know if something as big can be done and maybe we need to speak this through.”

“I have never in my life – please bear with me – I would have never imagined, including my staff, that we would be in this place.”
