U.S. President Donald Trump has reignited his long-running feud with LeBron James, calling the NBA star a “racist” while commenting on the 41-year-old’s recent move to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The comments came after Trump was asked in a White House news conference to weigh in on the long-running debate over whether James or NBA legend Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time in the wake of LeBron James’ headline move to the Philadelphia Sixers as an unrestricted free agent on a two year deal worth eight million dollars. Instead of giving a direct comparison, Trump launched into fresh criticism of the four-time NBA champion, accusing him of being racist.
“Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine. I play golf with him. He’s a really good guy. I think LeBron is, maybe he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. I only like people that like me, so I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”
The latest exchange adds another chapter to the years-long public feud between Trump and James, who have repeatedly clashed over politics, race, and social issues.
