Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles underlined his status as the world’s fastest man by winning the men’s 100m at the 2026 US National Championships in a world-leading 9.79 seconds.

Lyles matched his personal best with the victory, recording the fastest time in the world this year. (Scroll down to watch video.)

Ronnie Baker finished second in 9.875 seconds, while Kenny Bednarek placed third in 9.880 seconds. Christian Coleman, who got off to a strong start, faded to fourth in 9.93 seconds.

In the women’s 100m, Sha’Carri Richardson claimed her third US national title with a winning time of 10.77 seconds, finishing ahead of Kayla White and Tamari Davis.

“I think I made that ‘I’m still the world’s fastest man’ statement. Just because it is an off year [there being no Olympics or World Championships this year] doesn’t mean that I plan to run slow. This is me being me and being me is dominant, being consistent.”
