New Chelsea signing Jordan Henderson says he could not turn down the opportunity to join the club after completing a two-year move from Brentford.
The 36-year-old, who won the Premier League title with Liverpool, becomes the second experienced English player signed by Chelsea this summer after the club brought in forward Danny Welbeck.
Henderson featured in a cameo role for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and suffered a broken wrist during the Three Lions’ Round of 16 victory over Mexico. Speaking after completing his move, Henderson said the chance to join Chelsea was one he could not refuse.
“Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
“I was also so impressed with how much the ownership want Chelsea to be successful and move in the right direction.”
“For me, it’s about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I’m very excited to get going” Henderson said to Chelsea media.
