Ghana Premier League side Karela United have been handed a transfer ban by FIFA for failing to settle an outstanding financial obligation owed to former player Sana Camara.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has activated a ban preventing the club from registering new players at both national and international level.

The ban follows Karela United’s failure to comply with an earlier FIFA decision ordering the club to pay money owed to Camara.

According to FIFA, the registration ban will remain in place until the outstanding amount is fully paid, with the sanction lasting for a maximum of three entire and consecutive registration periods.

FIFA has also instructed the Ghana Football Association to immediately implement the national-level registration ban against Karela United if it has not already done so.

The governing body made clear that the ban can be lifted once Karela United settles the full amount owed to the former player.

The decision is contained in correspondence relating to FIFA case reference FPSD-23160, in which the governing body noted that the club had failed to comply with its financial obligations despite the earlier ruling.

The latest sanction leaves Karela United unable to register new players during the affected transfer windows unless they resolve the dispute and settle the outstanding debt.
