Four time tennis grand slam champion Naomi Osaka has made a telling statement by confessing that competing as a professional tennis player is a side hustle for her.
The American player made this comment while competing in the 2026 US Open where she pointed out that being a mother to her daughter was her main job with tennis coming in later.
Former US Open champion Osaka went on to beat Anastasia Zakharova 7-6, 7-3 in the first round to progress to the second round where she is scheduled to take on Czech player Katerina Siniakova.
For her match against Zakharova, Osaka delivered another fashion statement by rocking an attire inspired by basketball icon Allen Iverson.
“I think people forget my main job is to be a mom. This [tennis] is kind of like my side hustle a little bit. I just happen to be really good at it.”

“I do feel like I’ve played a lot of matches… Honestly, this is the surface that I’m most comfortable with” Osaka said.
