The National Sports Authority (NSA) has denied allegations that some of its officials received approximately US$623,000 from members of the public to facilitate visas for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the NSA said it had neither authorised nor operated any office at the stadium for collecting money or facilitating World Cup visas.

“The Authority has not engaged in, sanctioned or authorised any visa-related activities of the kind alleged in the publication,” the NSA stated.

The denial follows reports accusing individuals associated with the Authority of taking money from prospective World Cup travellers on the promise of helping them secure visas.

The NSA also clarified the role of TRIBE FEST, describing it as a FIFA-licensed partner involved in fan experience activities, World Cup viewing events and event mobilisation in collaboration with the NSA, the Ghana Tourism Authority and other stakeholders.

“For the avoidance of doubt, TRIBE FEST was a FIFA-licensed partner in assisting with fan experience activities, World Cup viewing events and event mobilisation in collaboration with the NSA and the Ghana Tourism Authority as well as other collaborators. That arrangement did not extend to authorise TRIBE FEST, any NSA employee or any other person to collect money for the procurement of visas on behalf of the NSA”.

The NSA said it was aware of reports that a petition had been submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service but had not been officially notified of its full contents.

“The NSA takes the allegations seriously and will cooperate fully with the Ghana Police Service in any lawful investigation. The Director-General and any other officer of the Authority will make themselves available and provide all necessary assistance if invited by the Police”.

It added that the Director-General and other officials would make themselves available and provide any necessary assistance if invited by the Police.

The NSA further said that if credible evidence establishes wrongdoing by any employee, official or third party, it expects the Police to deal with those responsible in accordance with the law.

The Authority, however, cautioned against attributing the alleged actions of individuals to the institution unless investigations establish that they were authorised by the NSA.
