Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko admits FC Samartex deserved their 2-1 win over the defending Ghana Premier League champions.
Samartex handed Medeama their first defeat of the season in the headline fixture of the weekend’s league action. Despite the loss, Medeama remain top of the table with 14 points from seven matches. Hearts of Oak and Samartex also have 14 points, sitting second and third respectively.
Speaking after the game, Ibrahim Tanko praised Samartex for their performance, saying they deserved the victory.
“We were very careful in the first 20 minutes then after 20 minutes, some low percentage chances from us but I think in all…It’s a painful defeat based on how the game went but I think they deserved the win and we congratulate them.”

Tanko recently was announced as an interim assistant head coach of the Black Stars for two 2027 AFCON qualification games against Somalia.
