Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Doncic says he has made significant improvements defensively and is a better player on that end of the court than in previous seasons.
Doncic made the comments after scoring 45 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in 35 minutes as the Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 131-125.
He also recorded five steals and a block, helping the Lakers secure their fifth win in seven games in the 2026-27 NBA season.
All 15 of his rebounds came on the defensive end, with the Slovenian highlighting his progress defensively in his post-game interview.
“Obviously, I’m not the best defender in the NBA, but I think this year, I really took a step forward.”
“Obviously, people are going to talk what they want to talk [about] me. … But I know, and my team knows, that I’m better this year. “It gets the whole team fired up. I just wanted to get better at that” Doncic said.
