Former WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has opened up about his admiration for Ghanaian lightweight boxer Richard Commey.
The Ghanaian lost his IBF lightweight title to Teofimo Lopez last month, ending his 10 month hold as champion.
Commey would’ve had the chance to face Ukrainian multiple belt holder Vasyl Lomachenko later this year had he beaten Lopez, but that bout looks very unlikely now.
Asked what he made of Commey’s last bout against Lopez, Fury was full of praise for the Ghanaian despite his defeat.
“Richard Commey is a very good fighter. I’m a big fan,” he said.
Fury is set to face American Deontay Wilder next month for the WBC world heavyweight title.
