2023 African Games: We are going to lift Accra to the highest level globally

Dr. Ofosu-Asare speaks at maiden National Fitness Day

Local Organization Committee (LOC) Chairman of the 2023 African Games, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, has pointed out his outfit is dead set on hosting a stellar competition.

He expressed this during his speech at the maiden National Fitness Day held at the Accra Sports Stadium that was headlined by Ghana Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The event attracted King Tackie Tsuru II, international Boxing Hall of Fame Azumah Nelson, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Professor Peter Twumasi.

“We are going to lift Accra to the highest level globally. We make sure the economy is stipulated, our economy has been massacred by corona virus as well as what is happening in Ukraine and Russia but we are hoping to use the Games to stimulate our economy,” he stated after taking a swipe at “doubting Thomases” over Ghana’s ability to host the competition.  (Click highlighted text to read story)

Ghana will host the 13th edition of the multi-sport competition in August next year with facilities at the University of Ghana and a brand new arena under construction at Borteyman set to host over 2000 athletes.
