2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elections aspirant Kingsley Osei Bonsu popularly known as Lord Zico, has shed light on the reason behind his backing of GFA President Kurt Okraku.
Chief Executive Officer Osei Bonsu is running to be elected to the GFA Executive Council for a second term after getting elected on to the powerful group in 2019.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports ahead of the Elections that is set to be held on Thursday, October 5 in Tamale despite a court injunction that has been slapped on it.
Kurt Okraku is seeking re-election as GFA President and is set to run unopposed as George Afriyie was disqualified for having an ineligible endorser on his nomination form.
Despite being friends with Afriyie, veteran football administration Osei Bonsu believes for continuity sake, it is difficult not to support Kurt Okraku.
“I was first with George then I got elected to the ExCO (Executive Council)…and my decision was to be in sync with colleague members so that we try to fine tune the policies with him and I think its worked to perfection.
So if I am seeking re-election based on the policies that have been executed by the ExCO, it will be very difficult for me to say that I won’t be a Kurt guy because I will always preach for continuity.”
