We shouldn’t make it look like there was a contest and Kurt Okraku won- Jerome Otchere

Former Editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere, has taken a swipe at Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku over the incumbent GFA President’s victory in the 2023 GFA Elections.

The win gave Okraku a new four year mandate as GFA President with his first four year term set to end on October 25. The elections were held in Tamale with Okraku running unopposed in the GFA Presidential race.

Veteran sports journalist Otchere acknowledged the competition in the GFA Elections for new members of the Executive Council but stopped short of doing same for the GFA Presidential race.

“It’s very difficult for me to call it an election because if you are looking at that of the EXCO (Executive Council), yes, there were people contesting for various seats and so there was an election there. In the case of the FA President, I will not call that an election.”

“I have said that there was no contest we shouldn’t make it look like there was a contest and Kurt won. He had no competitor, he had people who were ready to acclaim him whether or not they like him and that is what happened. It’s very unfortunate.”
