Hearts Board refutes “player selection claims” made by ex head coach Martin Koopman

Ex Hearts Coach Martin Koopman

Members of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Board have strongly refuted claims made by former head coach Martin Koopman over player selection manipulation.

The departed Dutch trainer made this allegation after he got surprisingly dismissed after an up and down start to the season with The Phobia club.

However, in a press conference to provide updates on the latest happenings in the club, members of the club’s Board, Alhaji Akambi, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe and Vincent Sowah Odotei held a strong position opposing Koopman’s assertions.

In an interview with Ghanasportspage after his sacking, Koopman alleged that seven players were to be ostracized from the team stating, “Annan, Korsah, Esso, Albert Eonde, Salifu, Seidu, and Attah). They told me not to use them because they don’t believe them and they cannot help me in the competition”.

This allegation prompted the Hearts board to rubbish this allegation saying,

“We believe that cooperation is what can give you good results. The board finds Koopman’s statement very distasteful. The board has never said to any coach or Koopman that he shouldn’t use the players he mentioned.”

“Martin Koopman was solely in charge of player selection in the team. He was given full responsibility” the Board stated in the aftermath of Hearts 0-1 loss to Aduana Stars in the past weekend.

Hearts of Oak has also been eliminated from the MTN FA Cup after losing on penalties to lower tier side Nania FC.
