Ghana’s 2024 Olympic Games men’s swimmer Harry Stacey had a lot of support from the swimming fraternity back home while competing in his debut Olympics.
As Stacey prepared to compete in Heat 4 of the Men’s 100 Metre Freestyle event, swimming enthusiasts, coaches and young swimmers mainly from the Marlins Swim Club where Stacey competed in Ghana, gathered to cheer him on at the Borteyman Sports Complex’s Aquatic Centre.
Ghana’s National Record holder in the event with a time of 50.57 seconds, Stacey, finished seventh in the Olympic Heat with a time of 51.12 seconds. Stacey had the fourth best mark at the 50 Metre mark with a time of 24.11 seconds in the Heat. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
He missed out on qualifying to the semifinal stage of the event with Cyprus’ Nikola Antoniou winning the Heat in a time of 50.35 seconds and Jayhan Odlum-Smith of Saint Lucia and Yousuf Almatrooshi finishing second and third respectively in a time of 50.39 seconds.
