Travelling to Accra monthly to compete isn’t easy but it is worth it- African Sharks Coach

African Sharks head coach, Isaac Gyamfi, has lamented the struggles involved in constantly moving to Accra from the team’s base in Kumasi to compete but believes the struggle is worth it.

He said this in an interview with Channel One Sports on the sidelines on Day One of the Channel One TV National Swimming Championship.

The two day event is being held at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra and the concluding date for the highly rated competition is Sunday, July 14.

Having the likes of Abena Akyeama Agyei finish third in the Girls 11-13 age category 100 Metre Freestyle race, marked a positive outing for the Kumasi based swim club that also competes in the Swim League in Accra and coach Gyamfi highlighted the struggles associated with the constant movement.

“We’ve been coming to Accra for almost every month for the regular season…every month. It’s been a tough one but it’s worth it.”

Isaac Gyamfi, African Sharks Swim Club coach

The highlight moment on Day One of the competition was recorded in the final race via the mixed 200 Metre Medley that had Marlins Swim Club better its time from 2:50:55 to 2:11:54 with second placed Ghana Dolphins improving its time from 3:26:71 to 2:14:49.
