Hasaacas Ladies Football Club Brands Manager, Ohene Bampoe Brenya, has rejected the notion that the club has declined in the wake of the Sekondi side’s failure to progress to the latter stages of the WAFU Zone B Championship.
Missing out on progressing beyond the group stage meant that Hasaacas also lost the chance to compete in the CAF Women’s Champions League in the process.
Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports, Bampoe Brenya spoke about how things didn’t pan out expected despite the club making contingency plans to deal with the absence of four key players. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Despite seeing the club slip from finishing in the Women’s Champions League as runner ups to missing out entirely on competing in the main competition, Bampoe Brenya believes the club’s fortunes are on the up.
“We virtually went into this competition with a new generation of players we are trying to build into superstars of tomorrow so it’s not entirely correct to say we’ve gone down or we are declining. I think that we are building, we’ve made some significant gains in winning the League again.”
“The fact that we didn’t win the WAFU Zone B doesn’t mean that we’ve declined. I’d say that it’s an improvement from what we’ve done in the last two years and hopefully we build from this (2024 WAFU Zone B) experience.”
Hasaacas Ladies finished third in Group B but failed to progress due to spotting an inferior goal difference.
