President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Delphina Quaye, has expressed confidence that the Ghanaian team is determined to claim all the medals in the various events.
Her remarks follow Ghana’s impressive performances on Day 1 of the 2024 Africa Aquatics Swimming Championship, held at the Aquatic Center in the Borteyman Sports Complex.

Go Ghana! We are here to win all the medals, or let’s say, most of the gold medals.
And so far my team has really proven themselves and I’m proud of them.
Swimming is about time.
We look at the times that they do and then we select from them.
The best, those who have the best times are the ones that come on top.
So for every event we have two best swimmers. So even though we have a number of good swimmers in Ghana, look at the times that they make.
And then take the best two for each event.
So that’s how we came about these names that you have seen here today.
Team Ghana, showcasing some of its finest swimmers, put on remarkable displays in key events. Harry Stacey, Joselle Alice Mensah, Nubia Adjei, Ivan Snowden, and Naima Kankam all rose to the occasion, competing fiercely against top swimmers from across the continent.
In the Women’s 100 LC Meter Freestyle, Joselle Alice Mensah met high expectations with a podium finish, while Nubia Adjei also delivered a strong performance.

On the men’s side, Harry Stacey stood out, winning medals in both the 100 LC Meter Breaststroke and the 200 LC Meter Freestyle, affirming his status as one of Ghana’s rising swimming stars.
With the competition still underway, Team Ghana is focused on finishing strong and reinforcing their position as a dominant force in African swimming.
