RLFG hosts President’s Cup with UK Deputy High Commissioner as Special Guest

The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) is thrilled to announce the 2024 President’s Cup, scheduled for Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Legon Rugby Stadium, Accra.

This year’s event marks a milestone by introducing Youth and Women’s matches, highlighting RLFG’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and expanding the sport’s reach across Ghana.

The President’s Cup will bring together Ghana’s finest rugby league players in a thrilling matchup between the National Rugby League Team and the President’s XIII (National Team B). “RLFG Hosts President’s Cup with UK Deputy High Commissioner as Guest”

National Team (Men): Joseph Andoh, Abraham Adjetey, Nathaniel Sekyi, Emmanuel Bonney, John Haywood, Abugre Osman, Kofi Adusei, Jeff Agboku, Freeman Azu, Samuel Kanu, Gizo Fillmore, Gabriel Dua-Quaye, Gerrard Aidoo, Benjamin Fiawoo, Albert Ghartey, Michael Abbeyquaye.

President’s Team (Men): Manu Godfred, Asaah Joseph, Wahid Issah, Ofori A. Youth Match: 12:00 PM

Women’s Match: 1:30 PM

Men’s Match: 3:30 PM

For the first time, youth and women’s teams from the Ashanti Region will participate, showcasing the growth of rugby league in regions beyond the capital.

The RLFG is honoured to host the British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Keith McMahon, as the Special Guest of Honor.

His presence underscores the international recognition of rugby league’s development in Ghana and highlights the power of sports diplomacy in strengthening ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
