Former Black Princesses management member Roseline Amoh believes newly appointed Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, never expected to take charge of Ghana’s senior women’s national team.
Speaking at his unveiling ceremony at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat on February 14, 2025, Amoh shared her thoughts on the Swedish coach’s unexpected journey to African football.
“Well you can’t fault him, i don’t think in his wildest dreams he was thinking of coming to Africa or Ghana anytime soon but the opportunities always present themselves and he said he has a fair idea of Ghana Football, women’s football so when the call came he didn’t think about twice about it’

During his official press conference, Björkegren admitted he is still getting to know his squad and has had limited exposure to African football. Despite this, he is eager to familiarize himself with the players and the competitive landscape.
“Don’t also forget that he hasn’t really handled very strong national teams size.
It has always been club sizes and so this will be his first major official assignment and i would want to believe that he knows what is in store for him that is why he has taken this up .
Let us give him time to settle in.
let’s see what he has ,thankfully the league is ongoing, this weekend there are fa cup matches .
it may not provide him the perfect start to assess some of the players but at least in the coming days he will get to watch some of the league games.”
With his vast experience in women’s football across Europe, China, and the U.S., Björkegren’s appointment has generated both curiosity and optimism, as Ghana looks to reassert itself among Africa’s elite teams.
