Ghana’s Elite Golfer Daniel List has expressed strong belief in Ghana’s potential to produce world-class golfing talent if given the right resources and investment.
Speaking to the press, List acknowledged Ghana’s deep-rooted love for football but insisted that with proper development, golf could thrive in the country.
Even they will say it’s a bit too football-focused. So I think there’s no reason why Ghana doesn’t have the environment. I’ve gotten to the point where I am, and this is where I learned how to play. I think we had even worse facilities, and we have had improvements, a huge step in the right direction

List emphasized the importance of maintaining and upgrading existing golf courses to meet international standards, citing the need for significant investments in infrastructure.
There needs to be, there does need to be fairly significant investments in it. You know, with as far as the golf courses, they could be kept in condition that would be more alike to the courses you would see in the U.S. or in England. And that just comes down to a bit of investment.

He further highlighted Ghana’s natural athleticism, stating that the country has the raw talent to succeed in golf if given the right opportunities.
As far as the talent on offer, Ghana is renowned for having world-class athletes with limited opportunities for growth historically. So there’s not a lack of talent. I think genetically, Ghanaians are fairly predisposed to excelling in almost any sport. So as long as we’re able to invest in it and give the right opportunities, there will be many Ghanaians succeeding in the cause.
His comments come after a press engagement where he discussed the future of golf in Ghana and his plans, including initiatives under the Daniel List Foundation, which aims to support and develop the sport in the country.
