Four ladies from the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project competed in the just-ended 69th Asantehene Open held at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi

Three out of the four ladies, Ayisha Aminu, Jennifer Satura, Fadilatu Adam, and Zakia Hudu, joined experienced golfers in the ladies and support categories of the championship and managed to get a podium finish.

In the ladies’ handicap finals, a winner of SWAG Awards’ discovery of the year, Ayisha Aminu, finished second with a net score of 159 to receive a trophy and a refrigerator.

She was second to Eunice Serwaa Mpeniasah, who ended the 18-hole course with a net score of 154, while Vivian Dick finished third with a net score of 159.

In the ladies’ support group, Zakia Hudu and Fadilatu Adam finished second and third with 38 and 32 points respectively. They were awarded a trophy and an executive package from title sponsors. Meanwhile, Jennifer Satura finished seventh with 22 points.

Speaking to the media, Head Girl for Captain One Golf Society’s Kids Project, Ayisha Aminu, said finishing on the podium was a tremendous honour for the team.

“We knew the competition would be tough, but everyone remained focused, trusted the process and believed in our ability from the opening round to the final putt. Every player made an important contribution, and that unity was the key to our success”.

YB Okyere, the head coach for the team, also added that “We’re delighted with the performance of the team throughout the 69th Asantehene Open Golf Championship. The players executed our game plan with discipline, remained composed under pressure and displayed the consistency needed to compete at the highest level.

“We also appreciate the support of Captain One Golf Society for creating a platform that continues to promote the growth of golf in Ghana.”

Mr Pius Ayeh Appiah, President and Founder of the Captain One Golf Society, noted that “This victory at the 69th Telecel Asantehene Open Golf Championship is a proud moment not only for the team but also for everyone who believes in the development of golf in Ghana.

“Through the Captain One Kids Project, we are investing in the next generation of golfers by identifying, mentoring and providing opportunities for young talents to develop their potential. I therefore call on corporate Ghana, philanthropic organisations and individuals to partner with the Captain One Golf Society by supporting the Captain One Kids Project. Together, we can discover, nurture and produce many more champions who will raise the flag of Ghana high in golf both locally and internationally.”
