West African nation Mali got its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers back on track with a resounding win away from home against Comoros in Group I.
Mali beat Comoros 3-0 with Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Yves Bissouma bagging a brace of assists in the win in Morocco.
The game was Mali head coach Tom Saintfeit’s first with the Eagles in the World Cup qualifiers after replacing Eric Chelle who has since been appointed as Nigeria’s head coach.
The win keeps Mali in fourth place with eight points from five games but Saintfeit’s team is just two points off group leaders Madagascar.
Ghana ranks second in the group due to a superior goal difference over Comoros with both nations having nine points but Ghana have played a game fewer.
