President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has congratulated Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, after its latest win.
He congratulated the Black Stars after the team bagged a 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The win was registered at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, President Mahama went on to caution the lads against complacency in the lead up to another World Cup qualifier against Madagascar on Monday, March 24 in Morocco.
“I had a good appetite for dinner after the Black Stars’ 5-0 victory. Congrats Guys! Let this victory not make us complacent. This should be the beginning of bringing back the LOVE. Next Focus: Madagascar. Go Black Stars!” he wrote on his X page.

In the lead up to the game, President Mahama visited the Black Stars at a training session and made a light hearted statement about the team’s recent poor form indicating that he had to eat before Black Stars games to avoid losing his appetite with results almost always dire.

Ghana is aiming to qualify to the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time; the win over Chad puts Ghana in first place in Group I with 12 points from five games.
