Medeama Sporting Club head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has stated that having more time to train with his new team played a key role in the club’s impressive win over Bechem United.
The Mauve and Yellow beat Bechem 3-1 at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa in its first outing since the Ghana Premier League’s resumption after a multiple week suspension.
Competition in Ghana’s top flight division was suspended in the wake of popular Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong’s death.
Pooley was stabbed multiple times and died from the stab wounds when violent clashes broke out during Kotoko’s league tie against Nsoatreman away from home.
Tanko was recently appointed and the former Accra Lions trainer believes that spending more time in training while the league was on a break served Medeama well against Bechem.

“We had a very good game against a very good, organized team and I think in the first half, we should have scored two or three goals more but I think in the end, it’s a deserved win for us. We had time to train for a week so I think it’s part of the reason why we had a very good game today.”

Medeama take on Nations FC and Samartex on March 16 and 18 respectively in their upcoming games away from home.
