Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to develop boxing in Ghana after meeting with the management and boxers from the Bronz Boxing Gym, one of the country’s premier boxing institutions.
The high-profile meeting, attended by Ashie Kotey, Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, saw the official introduction of Bronz Gym’s top fighters, including John “Expensive Boxer” Laryea (2X WBO African Featherweight Champion, ranked #15 globally), Sharif “One-time” Quaye (WBO African Lightweight Champion, ranked #8 globally), and Selasie “Emperor” Gosh (WBO African Bantamweight Champion) to the Minister.
CEO and Technical Director of Bronz Gym, Samuel Anim Addo and Lawrence Carl Lokko, presented an ambitious vision to host international boxing events in Ghana.

They appealed for government support to attract corporate sponsorship and elevate boxing’s fan engagement to the level enjoyed by football.

In response, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams assured the delegation of his unwavering support. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to athlete welfare, psychological training, and professional development beyond the ring. He also pledged to help mobilize corporate sponsorship and expand regional boxing facilities.
